Jean Louis Marcel Cosson

Biography

Marcel Cosson was born in Bordeaux, France in 1878.

Cosson exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais where he won an honorable mention in 1901 and a third place medal in 1911. He also showed his work at the Salon de la Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts and at the Salon des Tuileries.

Cosson painted the lives and lifestyles of Paris. He was a Post-Impressionist in technique and style. His fascination with theater is obvious by his vast number of works depicting backstage scenes. He also loved the circus, and the cabaret. He painted elegant men and women in typical costumes of the period.
