Planson attended the Acadèmie Ranson and exhibited with the
Sociète Independents in 1923. In 1949 he became a founding member
of the Réalité poétique movement, along with Maurice Brianchon
as a reaction to the departure of many artists of the day who shifted
to complete abstraction in their art. Planson and the others remained
committed to the ideals of the Post-Impressionists with a desire to
further explore the influence of intense color in painting
